Graduate Assistant/Career Coach
Ashlei, a New Orleans transplant from Biloxi, MS, serves as a Graduate Assistant/Career Coach in the Student Success Center. She joined the Loyola Career Development Center team in July 2019 shortly after starting the Master of Science in Criminology and Justice program. She is happy to be a member of the Loyola Wolfpack and the SSC team.
Ashlei received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi. During her time at Southern Miss, Ashlei served in many capacities that were student-focused. She enjoyed using her love of helping others as a Student Success Leader and was the “voice of the students” in her role on the Welcome Week committee. As an Undergraduate Research Assistant in the Comparative Cognition and Communication lab Ashlei was afforded the opportunity to complete her own research thesis and present it at the Undergraduate Research Symposium at University of North Carolina-Asheville.
Prior to joining the Loyola community, Ashlei was the Student Veterans Advocate and Community Outreach Coordinator at Rollins College through Corporation for National and Community Service. While there, she set up a “one-stop-shop” for the student veterans which helped to acclimate them as they transitioned from military to civilian life. Ashlei has a zeal for helping others and finds her hand in many things to ensure that others’ needs are met. She is excited to be be a part of the Wolfpack and to help students with their career goals!
Balance is important to Ashlei. She has a couple of passions that help her to manage a hectic schedule and to keep herself balanced. She has written and published a book, Unafraid to Soar, a guide to learning how to use psychological and spiritual tools to conquer fear and anxiety while boosting your faith. Ashlei hopes her book will inform others of the strategies she has used to let go of fear and begin to soar. When not attending classes, studying or working, Ashlei is also an “acoustic-soul/ quiet storm” singer/songwriter and finds herself creating music and singing in music venues here in New Orleans in hopes that people find comfort in her music.
